If you've looked at SNL's YouTube page recently, you would have probably noticed they've uploaded videos from the 40th anniversary show... But they are sort of a behind the scenes view of everything. It's super cool. Ok, so maybe not so recent, but hey, sometimes people think that two months ago was just like yesterday (And basically I just realised this.)
I really like the way that they've done this, it gives a really good look at how the show actually works. You can see the cue card holders frantically rushing around so that everything is delivered on time, and the different cameras for each section of the sketches. I find it to be quite amazing.
These videos really show just how much hard work goes into SNL, from the actors, down to the coordinators. Not only that, but you can also see the actors setting up for any physical humour that's about to happen. I think that Lorne Michaels should do this more often. It's especially helpful for those of us who want some kind career doing a similar thing, being able to see the 'behind the scenes' goings on. It lets you know and see that, not everything is always as perfectly set out and planned as you may have thought was.
